HyperCard was a user-friendly Mac app for creating dynamic multimedia, introduced in 1987. It influenced the creators of the World Wide Web, JavaScript, and Wiki. wikipedia
1991 Hypercard
HyperCard programs were organized as stacks of cards, so that its most obvious uses might be slide presentations or flashcards. But it included a scripting language, HyperTalk, to respond to user actions by doing things like switching cards or playing media files. HyperTalk could be enhanced with external functions. wikipedia
LiveCode GUI builder
HyperCard imitations are still available today. One of these is LiveCode, which runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux, and compiles executables for all three, plus iOS and Android. I am impressed. But I think the LiveCode GUI could be further simplified to appeal more to average users. It could put a narrower set of features up front, hiding many details. Simple action/response pairs could be provided without requiring any scripting. wikipedia
